August 2000 I decided to head south for a week diving in the Red Sea while Sandy and the kids went to SA.

My base was the Ocean Sands Hotel in Naama bay,  10 km from Sharm El Sheik. A basic hotel but clean and a functional aircon. Was this needed! We landed at 11:45pm and the temperature was 38ºC.

The diving was great, (any diving beats work) with a huge variety of dive sites. Highlight of the week has to be the Thistlegorm Wreck in spite of the rough water conditions during our 2 dives.

Most definitely a dive area I will visit again, but next time on a live aboard for a week and land based for a week.

Naama bay is a stunning little town with great night time entertainment to suit all.
